'500' for Mid-July Release

Lush's next single from 'Lovelife' will be '500', and it will be released (in the UK, at least) around mid-July, it was revealed on Radio 1 last night. A one-track promo copy of 'Ciao!' was circulated to radio stations and DJs, but it seems the song was never destined for chart stardom.

Sound City Gig

On Wednesday June 19th, Lush will play a Radio 1 'Sound City' gig from Queen's University, in Belfast. The concert will be broadcast on the night, presumably live. The supporting band will be 'Joyrider'.

European Dates Announced

Lush will be playing at a number of different European festivals over the summer of 1996.

'Stolen' Tapes Update

Any fuss over last week's loss of Lush's Radio 1 'Evening Session' tapes seems to have fizzled out, and we are none the wiser. Having said that, I didn't hear the first half of the programme last night (Monday), so I suppose Steve and Jo may have explained. Any info gratefully received..

Lush Site Revamp!

As those of you who have been here before (no pun intended) will have noticed, this site has undergone a fairly major makeover. Any comments are appreciated.

Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy what's here.

Reviews & Articles Positively Encouraged

If you've got something to say regarding Lush; a review of a concert or an album, a story to tell or whatever, but don't need the hassle of setting up a page to express your views, feel free to send stuff to me. I'll put any submissions into an appropriate category, and convert them to HTML, but everything will be attributed properly, and the text will go up unchanged. Credited and unedited, if you will. Anyway, it's just an idea - if it works, then good; if not, there's nothing lost.

Famous Cover Band Chooses Lush!

It seems that renowned plagiarists Stone Temple Pilots are fans of Lush. Their last single before Scott Weiland went back into rehab again (I think he's a rehabilitation addict.. :) contained a bridge which could have been on Spooky without anyone raising an eyebrow. The song, 'Jumping Jack.. err, sorry, 'Big Bang Baby', the first release from STP's new album, 'Tiny Music from the Vatican' (I think that's what its called, anyway), was played a lot on MTV and KROQ. Apparently, in an interview with KROQ, Scott Weiland admitted that certain parts of the song sounded like Lush.

Not So Famous Band Chooses Lush!

The band seem to have quite the celebrity following; in a recent interviews, up-and-coming Scottish indie-bubblegum-pop (wow, a new category) band Bis cited Lush as a major influence. Manda, the female third of the group, revealed that she always wanted to be like Miki in her early teens. The article pointed to a strong possibility that Bis would be supporting Lush in some upcoming gigs, and this was borne out when the Camden gig saw Lush and Bis on the same bill.

Lovelife/Tour Video Rumour

According to Domingo, Lush's 23rd April date at the Atlanta Masquerade was filmed for an upcoming video; no more details at present. Watch this space..

Lush 'Inspire' Compilation Album

One of the most popular compilation albums in the UK at the moment goes by the name of Ladykillers. It features around twenty tracks, all with the common theme of female vocals, and appearing are such indie luminaries as Belly, the Cocteau Twins, Salad, Elastica and Sleeper; as well as, of course, our very own Lush.

We hit 1000!

The WebCounter counts the site as having had over a thousand hits, which is really quite a pleasing thing, especially on the day after I personally hit 22 (years, not hits :) By the way, the counter is set not to count multiple hits in a row from any site, which is why reloading the page or the counter does not result in another hit being notched up, but the IAB (the little blue tally sign) does count each hit separately, so they're all noted. And yes, the counter was started from zero :)

Many thanks to everyone who's 'been' a hit; I hope you find reason to keep coming back!

Coming soon: More articles, more pictures, more info.. this is just the beginning..
